The air reciprocating saw cuts with a back and forth blade motion, with no rotating disc. It tackles sheet, section, tube and plastic in positions where an angle grinder could not reach, and without throwing a shower of sparks.

Why a reciprocating saw rather than a grinder
Three reasons come up again and again on the shop floor.
No sparks. An abrasive cut throws incandescent particles several metres. In an area holding solvents, combustible dust or finished surfaces, that rules it out. A reciprocating saw cuts cold.
No heating of the workpiece. On stainless steel, the heat of a disc discolours the cut zone and can damage the passive layer that protects the metal. Blade cutting greatly limits that effect.
Access. A thin blade enters a slot, follows a curved line and works flush against a wall, which a one hundred and twenty-five millimetre disc cannot do.
Choosing the blade
Tooth pitch is chosen on the thickness to be cut, and the rule is simple: at least three teeth must be engaged in the material at any moment. Too coarse a pitch on thin sheet snags, judders and breaks; too fine a pitch on a heavy section loads with chips and overheats.
Count on a fine pitch, in the order of twenty-four teeth per inch, for sheet and thin walled tube, and a coarser pitch, around fourteen, for solid sections.
Air supply
An air reciprocating saw draws air continuously throughout the cut. A system just adequate for an impact wrench, which works in bursts, will not keep up. Check the litres per minute the machine requires before putting it into service, not just the pressure.
