Inflatable Sleeve MS-AC 3M™

The 3M MS-AC inflatable wheel is a pneumatic drum onto which an abrasive sleeve is fitted. By adjusting the air pressure, you adjust the hardness of the wheel: softer to follow profiles and shapes, firmer for more aggressive sanding.

Specifications

• Type: inflatable wheel, abrasive sleeve carrier.
• Dimensions: 100 x 19 mm.

The principle

A rigid drum sands flat: on a shaped part, it only touches the high points. An inflatable wheel deforms on contact with the part. It follows curves, radii and profiles, and spreads the pressure over the whole surface of the sleeve.

Inflation pressure is the key setting. Low pressure lets the wheel follow complex shapes and gives a soft finish. Higher pressure makes it firm and removes more material.

Applications

Sanding and satin finishing curved parts, sections, bent tubes, handrails and banisters, finishing shaped parts in stainless steel, aluminium or wood.

Use

Fit the abrasive sleeve on the deflated wheel, then inflate to the desired pressure: the sleeve is held by the pressure. Respect the maximum pressure and speed shown. Check the pressure regularly, as it determines how even the result is.
