3M 3764 hot melt adhesive: features, applications and usage tips
The 3M 3764 hot melt adhesive is an essential benchmark for demanding industrial bonding. It offers fast, durable adhesion on a wide range of materials.
Formulated with high-performance EVA, it is suitable for wood, cardboard and plastics alike. Its short setting time optimizes production rates.
Available at Dagobert Industrie, this glue stick is used with a standard hot melt glue gun for precise, waste-free application.
What is 3M 3764 hot melt adhesive?
The 3M 3764 hot melt adhesive is a polyolefin-based adhesive designed for industrial applications requiring a strong and durable hold. It comes in the form of sticks compatible with standard glue guns.
It melts at high temperatures (approximately 190 °C) and forms a resistant bond within seconds of application. Ideal for fast production lines.
Composition and technology of 3764 adhesive
The 3764 is based on a high-performance polyolefin formulation. This type of polymer offers excellent resistance to humidity, light greases and moderate thermal variations.
Unlike classic EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) adhesives, the polyolefin technology of the 3764 handles slightly aggressive environments better. It also generates fewer strings during application, which reduces waste and improves workstation cleanliness.
Its main technical assets:
- Application temperature: approximately 190 °C
- Open time: short, fast setting for high speeds
- Thermal resistance: up to approximately 80 °C in service
- Adhesion: wood, cardboard, plastics, textiles, foams
- Reduced stringing: low hot viscosity formulation
At Dagobert Industrie, we offer this 3M reference for industrial users seeking reliability and repeatability on their assembly lines.
Technical properties and performance of 3M 3764
The 3M 3764 is a versatile hot melt adhesive based on ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). It offers an excellent balance between mechanical strength, flexibility and setting speed.
Its high molten viscosity allows for filling large gaps and bonding porous or irregular surfaces without excessive dripping.
The setting is fast: the open time is approximately 15 to 30 seconds depending on the ambient temperature. Ideal for high production rates.
Application and operating temperatures
The 3764 is applied with a hot melt glue gun compatible with 12 mm sticks. The recommended melting temperature is between 160 °C and 190 °C.
Below 160 °C, the adhesive remains too viscous and adhesion is compromised. Above 190 °C, it degrades and loses its properties.
The service resistance of the bonded assembly is stable from -20 °C to +60 °C. Beyond this, the joint gradually softens.
