3M™ Cubitron™ II Hookit™ 950U Paper Disc

The 3M Cubitron II Hookit 950U is a paper-backed sanding disc with precision-shaped ceramic grain. 3M presents it as its best choice for heavy sanding of metal, coatings, composites and gelcoat, with leading cut and life.

Shaped grain on a paper disc

Cubitron II ceramic grain is moulded into triangles that fracture while keeping a sharp point. On a sanding disc, it cuts much faster than aluminium oxide and keeps its performance until the end. The very open coat limits clogging.

Stearate-free: why it matters

Most anti-clog discs are treated with stearate, a metallic soap. It can leave traces on the sanded surface and cause paint defects. The 950U contains none: 3M intends it in particular for body-in-white, where the slightest surface contamination is ruled out.

Choosing the hole pattern

The disc's holes must match those of the pad for extraction to work. The plain disc suits sanders without extraction. Efficient extraction keeps the grain clear and extends disc life.

P60 and P80 for stripping and levelling, P120 to P180 for preparation before primer.
